RICHMOND - The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) recommends that motorists stay informed of traffic conditions in the Williamsburg and James City County areas this weekend due to the Jamestown 2007 400th anniversary weekend events.
Colonial Parkway is closed to all vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle traffic, except shuttle buses, from Friday, May 11, through Sunday, May 13.
The Jamestown-Scotland Ferry service (Route 31) will shut down for about an hour on Friday, May 11 at 9 p.m. and Sunday, May 13 at 8 p.m. for fireworks shows, and also on Sunday morning from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 1:10 p.m. for security precautions.
Other road and ferry closures could occur without notice this weekend due to security reasons.
